When did you start your blog?
April 10th, 2012
How did you choose your blog name?
I love Horses, I live in and love the LA area and wanted to blog about fun things to do in the LA/OC areas, and of course about horses here and there, among other topics. SO hence how I came up with “Horsing Around In LA” Pretty much a no brainer… 😉
What keeps you motivated and inspired to blog?
All the wonderful people I’ve met through blogging, all the amazing feedback I get from others, and that others can learn something from me or at the very least be entertained by anything I might say.
Tell us a little about your family.
My immediate family all live out here in SoCal. My aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts and other relatives mostly live out in Minnesota/North Dakota. My grandparents on my mother’s side just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary which we had parties for them in both Minnesota AND California. 😉 My grandmother also just had her 90th birthday this past August. Just a year ago she had bladder cancer and had her bladder removed. Less than a year later she is now caner free and was given the “ok” by the doctor that she could water ski for her 90th birthday at the river (since we have a vacation home out on the river that we always go to) and my grandparents love to waterski. Anyways, she did it! She was able to get up and waterski on her 90th birthday. We even have a video of it. 😉
How do you prioritize family and your blog?
I make time for both. I’m not working much right now, so I have plenty of time to blog during the morning/day and spend time with family in the afternoon/evenings and on weekends. 😉
Where do you see your blog and yourself in 5 years?
I hope to be in a very successful place in 5 years with myself and my blog. I would be totally estactic to be blogging for Disney, or some other travel, foodie companies, be a “featured” blogger for the SITS girls, Blog Her, or any other BIG name place for bloggers. I have BIG dreams, so if I came even close to any of this, I’d be beyond thrilled. I would also love to be making a living from blogging by then if possible.
Biggest life lesson learned blogging?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to pitch to a company you are interested in. You’ll never know if you don’t ask.
What is your secret to success?
Ask questions. Join blogger groups. Share. Work Hard. Write. Blog.
What do you wish someone would have told you when you first started blogging?
Well, I started blogging with two good friends, so I pretty much had most of my questions answered then, and had a good support system right out of the gate, which I am truly thankful for.
All bloggers encounter writer’s block. How do you get past this?
Try to block out all distractions and just write.
What was your sweetest success story?
So far, my Happy Egg Co Post, I’d have to say, since it landed me my very first sponsored post for an equestrian website.
How do you relax?
Ummm that should be pretty obvious… HORSES of course!!! 😉 I love horses and going horseback riding.
Do you belong to any other social media networks to promote your blog?
Yes, mostly facebook groups.
Have you attended any social media conferences?
Yes, Bloggy Boot Camp, Vegas.
What blog(s) do you just have to read daily?
