How would you describe yourself?
I have been described as quirky, spunky, eclectic & sweet, I would agree with all of that. I also am a hard worker, & very supportive of my friends.
When did you start your blog?
April 10, 2012.
How did you choose your blog name?
Two things played a role in choosing Along Comes Mary; The first, was, of course, a reference to the 1960s song & since I love music so much, it was in my mind to make the blog very music oriented, so that seemed fitting. My other choice was for how the blog has actually gone; meaning that when theres an event or something fun going on, I am bound to come along 😉
What keeps you motivated and inspired to blog?
The festivals & opportunities I have been given to cover. Blogging has helped me get out more & involved with the community, as well as make such a great group of friends & meet amazing new people. Everything, since last year, has become, “What a great post this could be!” 🙂
Tell us a little about your family.
I am super close with my Mom, shes like a sister sometimes to me. I definitely got my desire to socialize & meet people from my Dad; he could make a friend on a desert island. I can be feisty, if provoked, & that is all from my 94 year old, 4 foot eleven 100% italian Grandma!
How do you prioritize family and your blog?
Overall, it has been an ok balance; there are times I do spend more time than others with my parents & Grandma, & I think thats when its ok to post less, but, usually, that just means I schedule posts if I know I will be busy with family, or friends.
Where do you see your blog and yourself in 5 years?
I hope we both will have grown more, lived more & learned more. I hope you’re all along for the ride!
Biggest life lesson learned blogging?
Be open, take risks & try new things. Even if something doesn’t go as good as you thought originally, thats a great chance for a post on growing & knowing what you want to do next time.
What is your secret to success? Just being myself, asking a lot of questions & not being afraid of failure.
What do you wish someone would have told you when you first started blogging?
Don’t always trust your spell check!
All bloggers encounter writer’s block. How do you get past this?
I love photography, so when the words aren’t flowing like I wish, I turn to my camera for inspiration.
What was your sweetest success story?
One of my dearest friends I have made through blogging is Melissa Reyes, we became close after she posted in a Facebook group she wanted to go up to San Francisco to Evan Sanders, another great bloggers, book launch party. I said I would go, hardly knowing who the heck she was, & off we went on an 8 hour road trip & I had the funnest weekend ever, & am so glad I know Melissa better now, because of that trip, & our open-ness to new adventures.
How do you relax?
I love an evening in front of Netflix, with my dog, & a bottle of wine with a good, gluten free dinner!
Do you belong to any other social media networks to promote your blog?
I do, many on Facebook & some on Linkedin.
Have you attended any social media conferences? If so, which ones?
I got to attend The Lifestyle Blogging Conference last April in LA.
If yes above ~ What was the most helpful thing that you have learned from attending a conference?
This conference was founded by Latina PR mogul, Ana Lydia Monaco, & she had some fantastic speakers at this seminar & hearing their struggles simply because they are latino, was heartbreaking but inspiring because they kept going & have risen to the top, showing all those that said NO, is actually a YES. I felt like any of us can relate to these struggles. For me, I have felt some strife in life with my goals whether it be because of my health concerns or since I am a single woman, not yet a Mother. Some blog opportunities are definitely for the Moms out there.
