How would you describe yourself?
Considerate, Sweet, Fun Loving, Determined, Motivated.
When did you start your blog?
October 1st, 2011
How did you choose your blog name?
The blog started out as “Minnesota Girl in LA” because I always wanted to keep the Minnesota Girl in me even though I had recently landed in Los Angeles.
It has recently been changed to Minnesota Girl in the World because I am headed to Sonoma, California in Northern California where new adventures will be formed. And this also means I can concentrate on more travel.
What keeps you motivated and inspired to blog?
The motivation is easy. It’s about the adventures happening all around me. I have far too many interests so the ideas are always there. But it’s also the ability to connect with others, to know I’ve found something that I can also share with others.
And the giveaways are so fun to run when others are appreciative of the opportunity.
Tell us a little about your family.
As of right now my family consists of my other half, our two cats, and our recently acquired bearded dragon. We will soon be surrounded by my other halfs family as well so new traditions will be made.
How do you prioritize family and your blog?
It’s simple. Family always comes first. When my other half asks me to spend time with him I take the time. I also will ask if he wants to join me at an event, and sometimes he does.
But holidays, special occasions will always take precedent.
Where do you see your blog and yourself in 5 years?
The ideal goal of the blog is for it to open other writing ventures for me. I hope it has aspired to be a go to place for others wanting to learn about the area of Northern California and also Los Angeles.
Biggest life lesson learned blogging?
That there is room from everyone, and to be yourself.
What is your secret to success? Be yourself, write how you feel, and to stay unique.
What do you wish someone would have told you when you first started blogging?
I feel the intentions were right from the beginning for me. I guess I wish I would have started self-hosting right away as opposed to waiting.
All bloggers encounter writer’s block. How do you get past this?
Sometimes you just have to write through it. Or do some free writing. It does help. I haven’t gotten to that point yet luckily. And then there are other times you just need to take a break, and that is perfectly okay.
What was your sweetest success story?
The biggest blogging moment for me was when I was invited out to a wine dinner when I attended bloggy boot camp. It’s my dream to work with wineries and also the wine industry so this was a huge step in the right direction for me.
But honestly, anytime an opportunity lands in my mailbox I think, “wow, they want to connect with me. They see my true value.”
How do you relax?
Coming home and hopping on facebook.. hah.. it’s true… or going on vacation far away.
Do you belong to any other social media networks to promote your blog?
Yes. So Cal Laby Bloggers, Collective Bias, and many more.
Have you attended any social media conferences? If so, which ones?
I’ve attended Bloggy Boot Camp, Latina Lifestyle Bloggers, Camp Blogaway. Each one has been helpful. A conference is about learning and being open to new ways of doing things. I always come back so refreshed with a billion ideas to implement.
What blog(s) do you just have to read daily?
The blogs I read depend on the post being written at the time.
